Williamsburg, NY – Brooklyn Event to Highlight Gastrointestinal Disorders — VosIzNeias.com

Williamsburg, NY – A free informational event to be held by the Jewish Crohn’s and Colitis Support Group on Tuesday, May 17th in Williamsburg will discuss Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  Sponsored by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, the evening will focus on support, inspiration, knowledge and awareness of these conditions which are prevalent within the Ashkenazi Jewish community.

The event will take place at 8:30 PM at the ParCare Health and Medical Center at 445 Park Avenue and will address causes, symptoms, diagnosis of these diseases and the effects of diet and stress on these conditions.  Featured speakers will be Gastroenterologist Dr. Jeffrey Ben-Zvi, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University and Certified Nutritionist Eliezer Gruber.

The Jewish Crohn’s and Colitis Support was founded in 2010 by a group of sufferers with the goal of educating the Orthodox Jewish community about these chronic and, as yet, uncurable condition, which if left untreated can lead to life-threatening complications.

“Because a cure for these conditions is not yet known, one has to learn how to live with the complications that occur with the disease,” said Joel, founder and executive director of the Jewish Crohns and Colitis Support Group. “Support groups are important for those suffering from this painful condition.  It is so easy to feel all alone, but our support group has already made a difference for many sufferers.”
